Silver-Copper-RCA-Audio-Cables.jpg
Silver-Copper-RCA-Audio-Cables.jpgSilver / heat shrink braided RCA cables with Copper drain10184 viewsA few years back I made some pure silver braided RCA cables where the third wire is not terminated at the destination end . The silver is polished then covered in heat shrink. There are two earth or negative wires. Theory is the third wire drains noise back to the source. In this build all those principals are used except the second earth wire is .8mm enameled copper wire. Smaller ferrite chokes were also used. I made these yellow to distinguish them from others. These are only 400mm long for phono preamp to preamp interconnect. Gold plugs and silver solder were used. Sound good.

This is a big improvement in heat dissipation, but I still may make more improvements to make it run cooler though.

They do sound great though with surprising bass from the FE126E. They are 9.5" square...I know square...but I found it helps reinforce the bass.

The Cotton ConneX are solid Silver wire with Cotton insulation. These were hard to make as the cotton continues to fray. These were well worth the effort as the produce a different and enchanting cable.

The wires are twisted together in opposite directions which helps keep inductance of the overall speaker cable to a minimum. See the Low-Inductance DIY Speaker Cable project page for full details.

Sansui_1.JPGSansui AU-X11 (rare)9138 viewsThe Melbourne Audio Club Australia has many talented members. Some sell commercially, all over the world, there own brands others DIY for themselves while still others take it on themselves to restore "better" commercial units. This member has restored this (I'm told) rare Sansui AU-X11. It certainly looks impressive.
