The input tube is 6s45p which drives a 300B and is followed by a GU-48 (replacement for the 833 tube). The 6s45p input tube is DC coupled to a 300B. There are no resistors or capacitors in the signal path. The 300B is coupled to a GU-48 tube through a step-down interstage transformer. Driver and output tubes are fixed biased for more natural and dynamic result. Output tube is working at 1000V-250mA. Amplifier gives me 125W single ended sound in class A2 mode. It has very powerful deep bass, mids are very loud and lovely. Highs are very clear. I am feeling like in concert hall. The case is made from 20mm thick African Wenge wood. It is my first project so I kept the components cheap. It sounds quite good considering the cost. Certainly a lot better sound than the speakers I was considering which cost 5 times the amount. Also I had fun and learned a lot along the way.

To get a perfect gloss finish and without the need to bog and sand screw holes, I first screwed the 19mm MDF together and then laminated (glued) 3mm MDF over the top. Next I trimmed the edges of the 3mm MDF with a router fitted with a laminex trimmer. After a light sand the boxes were ready to finish with no chance of seeing any screw holes.

I also made a cabinet to match and used some perspex for the centre panel and sprayed it the same colour as the subwoofer.

I hope this has inspired any budding diy speaker newbies. Im hooked now, im already planning my next project with better components.
