Realistic Minimus 77 Speakers with HiVi BN4 Midbass Drivers

These Tandy / Realistic / Radio Shack Minimus 77 (metal enclosures) speakers had already had one upgrade with better quality 4" drivers some months back. But after a chip amp delivered pure DC into the driver, thus melting the voice coil, repair was required. The drivers are Jaycar (Australian hobby shop) re-branded HiVi BN4 4" aluminum / magnesium convex diaphragm drivers (see other image). The overall sound is bright with little music much below 100Hz. But as PC speakers or compact bookshelf boxes they are satisfactory. The crossover (1st order) was also upgraded with the high pass capacitor upgraded to a polypropylene metal film type.
