Don's 6C33C tube amp from Down Under with locally wound OPTs
|
This beautiful 6c33c amp is not one of mine but belongs to a regular customer of the electronics store I work at. The power tubes are the same used in Mig fighter jets as regulator tubes. Don has dropped one on a wooden floor, it bounced and he caught it. Tough tubes. The timber base is made by Don and the top plate is 4mm thick ABS plastic. The power transformers and chokes are well separated from the music making bits. He employed locally made horizontal power transformer, chokes and audio OPTs. The amp is musical and neutral sounding low bass is a little spongy and undefined when added to my all valve system. It produces 15W, not bad from a SET. The front tube is a Sovtek 6SJ7 and the amp is two stage and weighs 40lb! Mark – contributor.
See this 6c33c tube amplifier thread for more info about this tube.
