Buffer circuit ideas and "best performance"?

The idea is to look at a simple circuit that has "excellent" performance to build into a stand alone module to couple high impedance to 10K or lower input impedance to rival an input transformer.

I thought it might be interesting to ask the question and see what people think about circuit performance.

Is it better with FET, op amp, or transistor.
How does something like a simple BC109 compare against others.

The simple L-pad comes to mind.

Just another thought,

Is total isolation possible using optical link with phono to phono connections in pre to power.
What are the losses encountered compared to capacitor coupling of a buffer stage?
Would a tosh link phono to phono work? The idea being a module at each end of an optical link.
Another question if someone wanted to locate a turntable at a remote distance to a pre-amp is it degraded with radio link.
Or would optical under the carpet be a better way? ie RIAA to tosh link.

M. Gregg

Theres nothing wrong with the capacitor coupping other than added distoriton, then you need to use the ERSE Pulse X capacitors to stay audiophile.
