I’m going to check a really affordable gfa-555 tonight and wanted to know if there is any know issues or things that I should check before buying it. I‘Ve read that there is no speaker protection circuit in this amp and will check dc offset and bias before using it on my system. Besides from looking for leaking caps, burning marks around resistors and home brew modifications, is there anything that I should be aware of ?

Any information is appreciated ! Thanks to everyone !

If you are going to it, I suggest you bring an outboard passive headphone box and a pair of high-impedance over-the-ear headphones of at least moderate quality. Headphones are utterly merciless in displaying amplifier faults. Also bring either a CD or other source with which you are completely familiar. Make sure your seller has the means to play it, however, or bring something along with you.
