Thought it worth a mention,

If you ever want to join extension shafts to volume controls or selector switches have a look at 30 Amp strip connectors.
Cut the plastic insulation off the connector. If you look around some are brass and look quite good.
You can get a 6mm drill to fit straight through and trim or grind the terminal screws so they don't stick out and just grip the shaft before they bottom out.
It is quite neat the other way is some rubber tube/hose and twist some thick transformer wire with pliers to tighten each end. (used on my M7 DIY build).
But the terminal block is a solid connection no flexibility.

Quite easy and very basic but worth a mention.

Just to clarify the above.

A bit obvious really.
However its cheap and not so bulky as a straight coupling.
Someone may find it useful.
