Am I able to play digital audio files through a digital cable that's not a standard audio cable (like, that you have to plug into an audio port)? I mean, if I had a dedicated, digital audio playing device, would I be able to reconfigure a speaker so that it accepted a digital cable? I'm trying to figure out a way that I can keep people from copying music mixes I put onto digital audio players. I know that if anything is played through a computer, it can be easily copied (Total Recorder, Audacity, etc..) onto a system and I'm trying to prevent novices from being able to do that. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi, I think I understand what you are trying to do.....If the player is not in your possesion and someone else is using it you want to prevent them from making copies of the music. you might be able to prevent digital copies if the output from the player is analog. But they could make copies while playing if someone wanted to do that. An anlalog to digital device could be used. A good clean analog to digital copy would be good enough for many folks.

Good listening
