|Post subject:||Cigar Box Enclosures|
I'm new here and somewhat new to building audio equipment. I used to make portable game systems and some guitar effect modules back in the day and always liked using cigar boxes as enclosures. I suppose the fact that they can be found cheap and add character appealed to me.
Has anyone done the same for building tube amps? I have a K-12 kit on the way and will likely put together a phono stage after that. I am thinking about fitting a steel "liner" inside the cigar box to provide shielding and I'll also need to think about ventilation. I don't have a terribly good idea how much heat these type of amps generate and it would be helpful to see if anyone has done the same and hear others' thoughts and experience.
Thanks in advance,
