I got a pair of outworn HD600 for almost nothing. The foam looked horrible and also wires. In my opinion the speakers are almost indestructible. So, I decided to restore them.
I’m not a fan of marble either so i disassembled them. as far as possible. Restored the speakers from dust hair and others attached during the years. Painted all the marble black. Got rid of the bad cable and ordered new Sennheiser connectors and foam from Ebay. It was cheap. 15GBP for connectors and 14.6 EUR for new foam. Braid/twine wires together and soldered connectors. Put all together and the result is like new headphones. Really like the sound.

Sennheiser.... 'nuff said! :smoking:

They are nice sounding headphones. Usually I only see them on the bench for the same reasons you did; bad wires and/or plug.

Cheers!

Nice restoration job. The cans really look great. I have a pair of HD595 that I really like.

Cheers
