I was given a couple of pairs of metal bodies 6L6(s). Some were in quite rough condition with some rust others much better preserved. I cleaned up the rustlies and applied some black high temp paint. I asked Suncalc to design me a 6L612AT7 power amp and graciously he did. I accidently bought two pairs of Psvane top of the range 12AT7s and that's why is asked for a schematic with this tube compliment. Thanks Matt.
The final schematic allowed me to use some, onhand, Edcor 10W OPTs and more especially a big Sophia Princess mesh plate (really punch plate) rec. tube. BUT I may be building the amp on a bottle gift wooden bottle box. This will restrict how I can build and what I can bring to this amp.
I have only ever stained once before. Recently I put together a tube headphone amp for a local who had bought the kit and was looking for an assembler. The blond base he wanted a deep brown stain with many varnish layers. A lot of work; sanding staining, sanding, lacquering, sanding, laquering..... I would never say the finish was perfect but it did look good and the owner liked it and the tarnished copper top (more of my handy work) plate. It made me think; I can do this!
I have a a bottle box (blond low grade timber) I'm am staining and laquering. The amp may end up in on this.
