Post subject:  LM317 cathode bias

Do you guys have experimented with a LM317 used as a constant current "sink" to bias an output stage ? I have seen this used in the RH amplifiers Image

I was wondering what are the advantages of regulating the current through the valve instead of using the regular resistor ?

These regulators have a maximum voltage, wich might limit the possibilities, or force the use of an NPN to raise its volage rating...

I used it on my EL34 SE,

But combined it with cathode feedback and a few other things.
