Diodes are not rated for power disipation
They are rated for maximum current, as this is what will heat them up more.
The most stupid thing one would do is care about the power disipation on the diodes, unless your aiming for high efficency.

So as long as your not dumping too much current 5Amp schottky and 5Amp silicon diodes are same.

Very fast or schottky diodes are only used when one wants to minize the reverse recovery losses.
Reverse recovery means the diodes don't turn off instantly when theres no more voltage and keeps conducting.
This causes the powersupply voltage to get shorted to ground for short period of time during one cyclcle of the ac inpt voltage.

Themral resistance form junction to case, means that for every watt disipated, the case is X degrees hotter than the actuall cell inside.
Say 10w and the resistance 5C/W, then the case will be 10*5 = 50C above the cell

Thanks for making this clearer. I see the sr560 diodes are rated 15C/watt.

Output voltage clamp,

For those interested; Just some info after trying the voltage clamp seems to work fine.
I used glass passivated 1Watt Zener 1N4740A
https://www.taiwansemi.com/products/dat ... _N1706.pdf

I just used 4 (two per channel) back to back giving approx. 10.5V clamp.
I just like safety ( possible output capacitor fail) giving a wide variety of output cap choices.
Not for everyone but its an option. :hot: :cold:
In the previous link they used 8 diodes but it seemed overkill, and I wanted to keep junction capacitance lower.

Update on the voltage clamp,

after some in depth listening, the voltage clamp has an effect on the output.
Am I surprised, not really what do you expect. :D

So there you have it.
