“Icon” in the same vane as Grace and Elite but with very different passives and a matched pair Psvane 50 Year Treasure CV-181-Z (6SN7). Cheaper parts but still with Mundorf EVO oil output caps and stepper attenuator. This time metal film Rs.

Assembled not wired. External PS as with the others. Three mutually exclusive inputs this time. Input selection at front.

It lives. Mundorf EVO oils, ShuGuang 50 Year Treasures and this time Cks for more second harmonic. Usually I do not bipass my Rks but let’s break with tradition here. Sounds really excellent.

I really wanted to use those very, very nice tubes in a preamp build. I’d had them for many years. Just used very slightly cheaper parts with the view to sell it. Of course all parts are quality audio parts.

Only have a few hours of listening with the brand new preamp but so far very impressive. There are lots or reasons why the sound is so big and full and some are; the use of Ck (usually left off), different tubes, different output caps and the use of 1/2W metal film Rs. But who cares. Well worth the build and may replace the far more expensive Elite.
