I'm new to this forum. I entered because I wanted to find out which amplifier kit to buy with reasonable results. My last kit was from Heathkit in the early 80s and was a very sturdy computer with a few accessories as a printer and floppy drive. So I had to dust off my soldering iron.

I ordered a K-16LS and a phono amp from s5 electronics and put it together according to the instructions. It is mounted on the supplied piece of poplar board but I will make a wooden/aluminium case for it.

When I make the case, parts have to be rearranged. I suppose I have to connect the RCA-connectors with screened cable. I also suppose I need a DPDT switch for switching between CD/cassette player and turntable. This switch will be connected to where the 3-pin jumpers are.

The ceramic sockets will stick through the aluminium plate. Is it abvicable to drill a circle of small vent holes around the sockets to improve cooling?

The vent holes will help with cooling and I would suggest them. The K-8 amps ran on the hot side. How warm does that power transformer get?
