On the subject of tubes ....Psvane KT88s do not work in the Oddwatt amps. That is unless you like fireworks.

I found some new (just bought from internet) Electro Harmonix tubes faulty, i.e. bad amplification factor and distorted output even at very low volumes.
Did someone else experienced the same or was it only bad luck?
In your experience, should I rely to different brands?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm late to this thread. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but over the years I've seldom had problems with any of my tubes,
whether Russian reissue or NOS USA/West European. Never used any China made tubes.
I've used EH KT88 and 6550 for years without a problem, same with Tung Sol reissue 6V6GT, EL34 and 6L6G, also Sovtek EL34.
One tube I did have problems with is Sovtek 5AR4, several of these sparked out on me, now I only use NOS rectifiers.

All of my preamp tubes are NOS and I do get the occasional faulty one but overall they give excellent service.
I cannot afford the prices for NOS power tubes such as KT88 and EL34.
