Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

That is for sure. They know who is in charge. BTW they don't like to mess with hot tube amps. That's smarter than some people I know. :D

Good listening
Bruce

True story:

Customer: *looks in awe at EL34 amp*
Customer: *grabs EL34*
Customer: OW!
Me: Ummm, there's a warning sign that the tubes are hot....
Customer: Why do they do that?
Me: *describes thermonic emission*
Customer: *stares blanky*
Me: There's a nice Sansui transistor amplifier over here.....
Customer: *buys a record and leaves*

:lildevil: :D

True story,

Me, messing about with a Peavey tube guitar amp changing pre-tubes.
Switches it on clangs a few chords.
Switches it off, changes the tubes again.
Switches it on, thinks that sounds OK I'll just clip the tube retainers on.

Crack..POOF
Me, with hand poised over bare anode with broken glass on EL84... :cold:
Slowly moves hand from tube retainer clip 3mm from live tube anode.
Then switches it off and thinks I must not do that again... :cold: :D

Regards
M. Gregg

Yes, I believe all tube users at one point or another need to prove to themselves that tubes really are hot. It is sort of like testing to see if the paint on a wall near a wet paint sign is really wet. It is just something we have to do. :D

Good listening
