Good to hear.

Matt, the fact it is running on 275V and not 289V would you imagine any performance hit other than maximum output power? I guess what I'm saying is would you see any quality of sound loss due to the lower HT?

That's only about 7% low from the design point. I would't give it another thought.

Glad it worked out so well in the end.

For the second build I wanted to use Solens for the inter-stage caps but could not find a local seller. I have ordered some Mundorf Supreme Silver and oil caps. Here they are $41 a cap about as much as I would want to pay.

When there is only one cap in the amp selecting something special I think pays off. If there was multiple caps hearing the difference a special cap makes might be more difficult.

I'm hoping to improve on the sound of the first rush build. Even if it is just as good I'll be happy but I'm trying to improve on it.

IMO, Solen's are really boring in amps/preamps. They shine like a Sirius in crossovers, though :D

I'm not going to prattle on but; never have I never heard reverb, echo and sustain continue for so long. So very long. It almost feels like these are being generated within the amp. I'm sure the are not.

Can't wait to complete MKII.

Well not in this amp. Real nice.

Matt, can I replace EL34s for the 6L6s are in this amp as it stands. Any up side or down side?

Functionally it will be fine. The EL34 is a true pentode instead of a BPT so I'm not sure what the sound will be like in UL. I'm also concerned that it may be biased closer to cutoff than you'd like.

I'd put one in and check the bias point. If it's not too crazy, see how it sounds.

Thanks Matt. The current bias on the 6L6 is 20V with HT @ 275V.
