Transformer only give me 210 V B+. Sometime I'll find a better one. Caps on their way to replace the bundled ones. Pot is 100K, trying to source a 250K. Seems to be happy enough though. NOS Miniwatt 12BH7.
Enjoy.

Spud build. My new UX-171A preamp was made from parts I had on hand. Gratifying when you can do it with good results.

Hi all!

This is my 4S with solid state power supply. Sounds great! I'm fascinated!

In my country, the supply voltage is 220V, so I used a 240/240 power transformer for this project.

Volume control (Alps 100k) is at the input now (only the pot between the input connectors and the grids).

I use my SS amp Parasound Zamp v.3 (33 kΩ input impedance) and works great with the 4S.

Thanks Matt for the design and inspiration. ¡Gracias!

Greetings,

Sebastián

Hi all,

I opted for the solid state power source because I didn't get a choke for the tube version. However, I would like to use a tube rectifier in the project.

My question is this: can I use a CRC filter instead of the choke?

What values would the resistors be?

I think this while looking at the original power supply schematic.

Sorry for my English and thanks for your responses.

Yes you can use CRC instead, the resistor value sets the voltage drop in system and power disipation accross the resistor.

Thanks for your answer.

I will replace the choke with a 150R / 5W resistor.

I know this solution is not ideal (and it is inefficient) but I would like to try it. Unless for some other reason you do not recommend it.

Thanks again,

Sebastián
