I have not heard one. You tell me! :D

A friend, Dave, had some Cyber 845s monoblocks which I liked. He swapped them for Audio Space quad 300B pull-pull monoblocks. Both very good amps hard to pick a winner. It will interesting to compare the 211s against the Audio Space.

When I took my 300B SE (Silver Dragon) around to Dave's he "hinted" it sounded better than his Audio Space.

Subjective likes.... just go for what YOUR ears like, because that's all that matters

Agree. A respected speaker build near me likes the sound of SS gear and finds tube gear to floating and not bolted to the floor. I like the float effect. Different strokes for different blokes.

My Edcor 211OPTs arrived. I think I ordered two pairs. I can't lift the boxes.

Two big projects prior to this one.

They're very big and heavy. I wonder if my OPTs for the Silver Dragon (300B) and are bigger.

This Audionote amp and 2-way speakers was the best I heard at the show late last year. A few others agreed, a couple being extremely impressed as I was. A huge amount of over-kill on all levels but a simple and great sound.http://www.audionote.com.au/2013_Melbourne_HiFi_Show.html

Did anyone ever build Matt's version of the 211 amp?

Here is my version I built almost 20 years ago. It started out with a 6SL7 driver direct coupled to a 6F8G cathode follower. It was rated at about 16~17 watts RMS into an 8 ohm load.

The latest version is transformer coupled and is rated for 25 watts into an 8 ohm load with no changes except the driver circuit. I have plenty of gain, so I might try a little feedback and see what happens, but it doesn't need it.

Photos and more data later...

Impressive frequency response. No I never built it. I feel guilty when I ask Matt to design something and not build it. Do still intend to one day. Got all the parts.
