Hi there. Having built a nice st of amp and pre amp, I am thinking to continue with a tube DAC to convert digital files to analogue. Is there any hi end schematic available? Cost is not an issue. Thank you

A quick search and there are quite a few commercial offerings. Might need to google to see if circuits are available.

There's some tubes in there, most components are digital though. Many are of eye watering price. @mwhouston may reply for more info but have a look at his reasonably priced dyi dac build. Very neat and reported to sound good. No tubes though.

Again high end but no detailed circuit. You could have look around on diyAudio.com.

http://www.ankaudiokits.com/2/DAC2.1-No ... e-DAC.html

What if you took Mark’s diy transistor DAC and integrate it with a 4s preamp, assuming similar quality components, that would be as good as the audionote? I did see in the thread someone developed a pcb for the preamp if consolidation is necessary. Then again would an iPhone/iPad instead of the DAC give anything away? I can’t tell much difference between my DVD player with onboard DAC and the iPad. But haven’t listened to a high end DAC. Keener ears can I expect given likes and dislikes.

I’ve been looking at this question for myself and the following thread looks Interesting. https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital ... y-dac.html

Edit: a link from the dac forum in diyAudio https://linearaudio.net/article-detail/2284
With schematic Looks complicated though. https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital ... -a-40.html

Hello again. I think that I am not ready to work with solid states. Perhaps, I could use a nice ready made or kit digital section and find a nice analogue schematic to complete the DAC
