Just remember the single stage tube preamp is designed to drive into high impedance loads only - 100K plus. I overcame this by adding a Pass B1 buffer after the tube section to drive low impedance loads.

Yeah, I was considering cobbling together something myself, but why reinvent the wheel? ....looking to get me a B1 board.
......hahaha, in retrospect, looks like I took a nice simple project and complicated the living daylights out of it! :)

I made my B1 on strip brd. Not too hard and I'm about to do a third.

When using the Pass B1 after the bottle, what value pot did you use, was it the same 250k as recommended for the tube preamp build or did you go lower, closer to 100k?
BTW I just ordered the Pass B1 board and all the necessary components.

This time I used the MKIII 4S design the one I called "The Black". I'm pretty sure I used a 100K pot. I put the pot between the tube and B1 section.

Thanks, I'll probably try a few inexpensive pots, values between 100k and 250k and spring for an Alps Blue Velvet when I decide on a value

Flux Capacitor?
The blue LED under the tube is tied to the left peak indicator driver and fires 6db before the peak LED. Makes for a nice conversation piece :headphones:
