Hi All, My KT120s came today. Mean looking things. About 1/2 inch taller than KT88s and more importantly, a much larger plate area. I expect to set up a pair of OddBlocks with them in a day or so and see how they do. I want to bump up the current to 240 ma from 180 to test them. That is at the limits of the standard Oddblock transformers and the actual output impedance will be less than the best (with my trannies I can get 4 or 8K). I estimate that the best value ought to be about 6.5K perhaps just a little less for class A U/L mode. More to follow in a few days.

Good listening
Bruce

Tung-Sol is the only maker of KT120 tubes (so far ;)).
There are stock photos of the KT120 tubes @ Tube Depot.

Hi, A Photo I think. These are beasts! That's an EH KT88 for comparison.

Indeed the plate area is much larger!

Do I see a pair of getters of sides?

I have faith in those! LoL

Cheers,
Miguel

My trannys are 6.6K and rated 100 watts (CXPP100-MS-6.6K). If the KT120s sound good it appears my transformers should be able to handle them with ease and extract maximum clean power. I'm looking forward to your evaluation as I'm sure many others are.
