I have had a shopping list of parts to build this amp for way over a year now. The total is £375.72 and this is just the 4 transformers and a chassis, nothing else.
The only thing stopping me has been the price. The output transformers I am looking at are Hammond 1628SEA. A pair will cost £236 which makes up the bulk of the cost.

Does anyone have a better price for the output transformers or an alternative?

Edcor oh so cheap.

Hi Mark. Thanks for the reply.
I did order from Edcor in the end. Shipping to the UK was $150 and i'll probably have to pay import charges too, but still, what can one do!

Cheers, John.

HI, I am really new to this. My two Carver amps blew so I decided to build a tube amp instead of buying anything. DO you have a parts list for this build? I would like to attempt this but am not sure what parts to go get. Thanks

Hello all!

So, I finally had some time to finish my SE KT88 amp.
The circuit is just like Mikael Abdellah's Single Ended (SE) KT88 Tube Amplifier Schematic.

For the supply I used some UF5408 for the B+ and a couple 6A10 for the heaters (they are heatsinked as they dissipate a lot of power). Bypass caps for the driver stage are some Rubcon ZL and for the power stage standard Nichicon caps. My B+ is also lower to make sure tubes will live a long and happy life.

I'm getting some hum from it (and that was expected) because I didn't use any chokes. But I will put a pair of chokes in there as soon as I get them. Right now all filtering is RC.

Here are some pics:

Hi,
Thank you for the beautiful design. Do you have a schematic of the power supply that you designed for this amp?

I have built a few amps based on this very simple design. They have all pleased in their own way.
