Well, I have no way of measuring caps at home, but all the resistors are super matched, really. I tried real hard this time, the resistors are all within one % or better. Now I will think about the layout for the rest of the evening. I wanna hear that amplifier real bad, but I have to be grown up now. As a fact, I was saving the tubes for this project for when I felt I learned enough and I gathered enough experience in point to point wiring to do a very nice job. This is gonna be MY amplifier, no cutting corners there, no hurry for once. My last little project looks really good on the inside, so Bruce thinks I am up to it. I would have waited somewhat longer and build my GU50 amp first, but too late now. Oh I am so looking forward to this amplifier, what a trip. I have gotten so far with tubes the last 34 month and I still have so much fun. Real amplifiers glow in the dark......

Thanks, I have got fast recovering diodes, I will use them of course. If I really don't like it, i can tear all the electronics out and run the tubes in parallel triode mode and still have 20 watts or so. But I do trust the OddWatt design, I will love it.

Hallo everybody,

well I a just about to do a last parts run for my amp, I still need the first 4 filter caps and I cannot get a 25 ohm poti, but a whole bunch of 2 ohm resistors soldered in series will do, too. That pity is not keeping me from building this amplifier. Here are the latest pics, I am getting ready.

A real man with hair on his chest don't need OP trannies .... :smoking:

Benny, do you have Illustrator or similar program. Make adry run of your layout in there and try to fins the most optimal placement.

Hallo everybody,

no, I got no program for the layout, also not for my schematics, I hand draw them all my life, not about to change now. is a little bit old style, but quite romantic and it works. Here are the pictures of the beginning.

In the morning I will place the tubes, still a bit time to think about it.

This may sound silly, but here it is: you may want to rotate the output transformers 45 degrees from the corners of your chassis. Unless, Of course, this places them in a parallel "plane" with your power transformer. For fun,. you might hold off on drilling all but one mounting hole for the OTs so you can see if the positions of the OTs makes a difference in the sound. Also, it makes for a more interesting appearance!

I am enjoying your passion on this project, Ben! Then again, you are "of" the Netherlands...

Hallo everybody,

it is true, I live in the Netherlands, but was born in Germany, spent almost 10 years in the United States, I speak much better English than Dutch, BTW, so my amplifiers lack the Dutch accent, but if somebody is really crazy about the Dutch accent, I am not, I will send you gratis a broken coupling cap, that will make your amp sound Dutch. You could put in a switch and switch from dutch to normal, if you like......... :smoking:

No offense. Here are the pictures of my assistant, he is sitting next to me all night, helping me to build high voltage equipment. The chair he is laying in, is his own, I bought that for him so he stays out of mine. I am crazy about tubes and my cat.
