It lives. Built mainly from bits on hand in a plastic jiffy box this Ozzy Miniwatt 6SN7 GTA (Ozzy vintage tubes) sounds good. Finish is copper hammer tone. I have a bag of turret brds. and this uses one. SRPP again, pot on the back. Here preamping Salt Cellar II 6EM7 wine box 2W power amp.

Hi Mark, seeing the hammertone paint reminds me of a trick....If you put it over a nearly dry first coat (need not be hammertone) it will give a "crackle" finish. A bit tricky to get right, but it has an interesting look.

Good listening
Bruce

Thanks Bruce. I was glad to see on work on plastic. But the etching primer first makes all the difference.

I need some help here to bring down the gain of this preamp. It is way too high and I can barely turn the 100K pot up and for good listening levels. I’m not using the better part of the pot with a result there is an imbalance in the left and right channels. If I bring down the output level from the DAC then I can turn the pot up and the balance comes back.

I have built the cct. as in the schematic here and have added 220K resistors between the output caps and the input to the pot. I hoped this would drop the output level. It has but only marginally. I’m looking for an easy way to heavily reduce the output volume. Any suggestions?
