I am in. My plan is to rebuild and re-case this 50eh5 amp for my son to use with his ipod. Once I get started on it I will start a thread because I will have some question I am sure. I thought it would be kind of cool to head off to college with a Tube Amp for your ipod. For his 18th birthday I will have to work out a true dock and charging station.

Here's my entry that I just got up and running. Its a small mono amp that I built for use at my desk at work.

Based on the 6197 Spud Amp by Jeff Larson at Abraxas Audio.
http://home.att.net/~abraxasaudio/projects/6197info/kit.html

Solid state rectification, Filter cap from an old Heathkit, other various scavenged parts. Mallory L-pad volume control (still need to trim down the shaft), all crammed into a nice little wooden box that a micrometer came in.

Mono, because i didn't have parts for two channels, and stereo is just a gimmick.

Hooked up to a Scan 15W free air, who's frequency response probably does a nice job matching that of the output tranny.

Take it easy,

Hello, I will definitely use this book. I am restoring a guitar amplifier, as well as an Otari 5050 BIIHD, and have modified and plan on modifying more microphones.

Attached is a photo of the guts of my tube amp.

Thanks for the chance to be a part of the Giveaway! I follow your blog via RSS and also administer the The Tube Amp Network, a Ning site for guitar amp enthusiasts. I would love a copy of this book :D

Here are some pictures of my first amp build: The Two-Stroke Amp from a design by Dave Hunter in his book "The Guitar Amp Handbook" and my second build, "The Firefly" :a push-pull 1.5 watt tube amp utilizing two 12AX7 preamp tubes and a 12AU7 preamp tube in a self-split power tube configuration.

Thanks for hosting this forum!

Gio I want the book. I love valves and though I'm near 57 years old I don't mean heart valves. Love to have the book though.

Here is an image of the layout for Woody Pro. Woody Pro is the single 2N3055 on a timber block preamp. You can see the 2 X 10uf X10 output caps, the engine block and the daul power supplies. Nearly finished the PSs then a case drill and assemble.

This got me thinking that I really should get some new books. Last year I bought a stack of old magazines from the 1930s. One thing led to another and I ended up building a copy of the Wireless World Quality Amplifier, a British amplifier design from 1934 that remained the gold standard for British audio until the Williamson in 1947.

This amp was completed on Saturday, so it's only had a few hours use, but I can find no fault with it so far.
