Yes, he was messed up. He got in a fight at the hotel before arriving and as the concert wore on, you could see the make up wearing off where he got wholloped behind his eye. Some guys wanted to test his black belt skills in the hotel hallway and he told the body gaurds to stand down and he took them on. That's why he was late. I've got pics so close you can count the hairs in his sideburns and some of the photos tell a lot about his condition. I sent his family an Austin concert album after he passed and left those photos out so they couldn't see how bad off he really was....

Staying on topic, it's going to be tough to get high quality speakers at $700. You're best bet is a pre-designed kit or buying a used pair from You can get a reasonably good kit for $700 to $1,200.

There are high end users who take exceptionally good care of their equipment at this website. I just purchased a Rotel RMB 1095 5 x 200 watt amp for $1,250. It's a 90 lb. beast. They normally sell new from $2,100 to $2800, depending on where you buy from. This site is for high end audiophiles.

Get your amp finished and you can start your search.....

Have fun,

I am a little behind on reading the postings. After a 25 years absence I returned to College on December 1st, prior to that we had a Bar Mitzvah and an unplanned Illness right before Thanksgiving. Thankfully we survived it all.

My sister moved to Austin about 14 years ago. She loves it there and is raising her family there. My Brother in Law had a coffee business in town, I can't remember the name at the moment or where it was located but when I talk to them tomorrow i will ask.

Cheers, Alan

Thanks for the welcome! It seems several folks stream through the Austin area with a good bunch of them planting roots here.

Good luck with school and I hope you enjoyed the break for the holidays.

And I wish all DIYers good health so that we may spend crazy amounts of money on our projects! :D

I'll look for your contributions on this forum!
