Yeah, it's kinda sad as the old 455 was a gift from a friend. But hey, out with the old in the with the newer. ;) Besides, it gave me an excuse to spend some money.

Does that Tek have one of those big blue transformers good for a 500W valve amp?

Cheers!

Ya know. I didn't even look to see what it could do. I know it was an open frame type transformer and was beefy. I think I need to look at that!

Got my "new" O-scope today. Gotta say, this was the best ebay purchase yet. The scope has been very well taken care of and is in tip top condition. I had to do som clean-up on my recently aquired B&K 3010 sig genny, haven't tested it yet. It has seen some repairs done in the past and the previous owner attempted to install a power indicator - rather half-hazardly - that's been corrected. I've won and am waiting for a Heathkit IT-12 signal tracer (another ebay purchase).
:D :D :D

Score!

I have a B+K 3010, nice genny! Don't short the outputs though.... you'll be replacing hard to find TO-5 cased transistors :?

Cheers!

I'm happy. Tested the sig-genny with my newly aquired o-scope, very nice. The genny is outputing nice clean signals with very good amplitude. The frequency pot does have a little bump just above the lowest end, but otherwise smooth. I'm happy.

Thanks for the warning Geek.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I am now a General Class amature operator! YAY!
20 years as Technician Class, I decided to instead of just renewing, I would actually upgrade. So, for now, I am KC4ZOC / AG!

I did go for the attempt to go Extra Class, but alas  , wasn't quite ready. May try again later this year. There's a whole lot more electronic theory and math involved for the Extra class.

:wine:
7 3 y'all!

I can drop the "AG". My license upgrade is complete. I am a full fledged Amature General Class Operator. -- YAY ME!

For anyone else interested in upgrading their Amature Class operator, be aware that when you go to take the test with your local US VEC - who may file through W5YI - that you may need to seperately renew your license. Apparently, W5YI does not automatically renew your expiring license when you upgrade your class at the same time. Fortunately, you can renew for FREE via the FCC website. You will need your "FRN" number (located on your license paper). If you have never used the Universal License System, you will need to establish a password. Do this by utilizing the "Set Personal Security Question" on that page. You will be asked for your FRN and you will be presented a selection of "challenge" questions to choose from and provide an answer. Make sure the information presented is accurate and that you have an email address listed. You will be emailed a link to establish your password. Once done, you can login to the ULS and proceede to renew. DON"T WORRY ABOUT THE "FEE" QUESTIONS. There is no fee for renewing.

Also, if you're like me and had not upgraded class since originally getting your license, say more than 5 or so years ago. If you're not aware, the FCC (in 2007) has removed the code (element B) from all classes and has also shrunk the classes to just 3; Technician, General, and Extra. You only need to pass the written exam to upgrade. You CAN still take the "element B" code tests if you wish. It will not affect your operating privaledges for the class. For those who have not gotten a new Part97 FCC book in the last 5 years may want to get a new one.

7 3 everyone!
