Hello All,
My name is Keith and I've been playing guitar for over 50 years. I live in Orange County, So. California. Because (like most guitarists) I love my tube amps, I'm certain I would love to have a vacuum tube stereo HiFi. Thing is I don't want to buy one, I want to build one. The only experience I bring to the table is being a commercial/industrial electrician for 39 years. I realize all my experience building a system to connect electronic devices to doesn't qualify me to build electronic devices, but I think it can help.
I have an entertainment center that is just begging for a vacuum tube amp, a turntable and some bookshelf speakers to sit on top of. I need to start somewhere and I could use some ideas. I don't need to build that stereo "THE" HiFi right away but I have to get my feet wet with something that won't be too expensive incase I ruin it. Eventually I would like to be able to troubleshoot my guitar amps as well. My preference is to build while I learn rather than read to learn but that is my preference not my requirement. Any help any of you can give will be much appreciated. Thanks for reading my post!

Keith Matten

Hi Keith, welcome to the forum. A tube amp kit makes for a good first time tube build. There are many kits to choose from. What you will need to figure out first is how much power do you need? How sensitive are your speakers and how loud do you want to play.

Cheers
