Hi Everyone, A thought occurred to me a while earlier ( ). It may seem to new comers that some of us long timers argue over various points in the forums. I don't see it that way. In this complex field if we all agreed then there would be no purpose in doing much of it.. just write a cook book and do things that way. Stuff all the parts in a pan and bake for 2 hours at 400 degrees. Magic, out pops a finished piece of gear (right). I may be too old to teach new tricks, but not so fuddy duddy to not accept that there is often more than one way to do something. I think in this area I can speak for most folks on these forums, particularly ones that have been around for a while. Everyone wants to make the diy audio experience the best they can for everyone. Further they want to encourage new folk in their pursuits in diy, hopefully creating the next generation of "long timers". If it seems at times there are disagreements in how to do something it is likely because we each have different experiences and somewhat different approaches to solving the problems that face all diyers. Cost, complexity, what we are trying to accomplish, skill level, background knowledge and purpose are just a few of the differences. I personally can only provide insight on things I have done or are such a standard practice that we can agree upon (like ohm's law). I rather reluctantly critique on other folks projects or designs that I don't have related experience with. I do make suggestions if asked based on things I have done. What my message to the community is...don't get hung up on the times when some things seem contradictory. Keep pushing forward until you get the answers or guidance you need to make it possible for you to be successful in diy audio. 8-)

Good listening
