Seems like everyone is involved with diy...I'm not sure if you also buy a whole device directly. I was looking for some DAC not too expensive, then I found this Chinese brand Aune. The products look great, but i don't know if they are good... Anyone has experience with their products?

Thanks :)

One of the things I've noticed with those "cube DAC's" (in general, not specifically Aune) is they are practically all the same inside. The difference between a $100 model and a $500 model are literally a $2 upgrade in cap quality inside. They'll go from using regular quality Nichicon to FG series or the like.

The circuit for the DAC in all the cubes I've opened have been straight off the application sheet from the manufacturer. They'll toss in some good regulation and external PSU on the better ones, but nothing more special than a LM317.

NOT dissing them, they all sounded good, some pretty "WOW", but in the under $1000 category, just get the cheapest thing off Ebay and upgrade the caps yourself ;)

Cheers!
