Hi, new guy here. I just scanned the build manual for the Realistic HK-200, which may be the kit version of this one, but I've never uploaded any scans to forums before. Is there a size limit? My scans are around 3MB a piece and there are 6 of them. I will reduce them if need be.

Hi, there is some controversy on that. It was indicated in on listing as similar to the Harmon Kardon A400. Less the meter and one fewer IF stage. Either made by their supplier or under license from HK. The HK was made in the US the RS in Japan. Hard to tell as nearly all FM tuners of the day that were not top dogs were quite similar. Still looking though. Someone has the data as the things exist. It is also apparently a follow on of an earlier version that was sold without a case as early as 1955. That one uses a slightly different tube line up but is equally elusive to track down.

Good listening
Bruce

The HK-200, along with a Realistic Multiplexer (MPX-215???) and a couple of Heathkit EA-3 amps comprised our family's hi-fi system. My dad built them all. Only obvious difference with yours are the knobs, but the innards may be different as well.

Hi, The knobs are not original and the schematics you posted look a lot like what I have. Many thanks it will greatly simplify the project.

Good listening

Back when it was new, I was using a cheap 6 transistor AM radio for my hi-fi. FM was not something I could get a handle on and to boot only "long hair" stations used it. Not too much interest for a teenager.

Good listening

I am disappointed with ABC classic FM here in Australian went to 64k digital and not better resolution. A local community station, with no government funding, went to 96K, still not stunning but better than 64K. The government radio station should have been 128K or at least this and a lower Rez. for those with poorer internet access.

I still mainly listen to ABC FM and some times Pandora. But Pandora has little idea what classical music is. It's just all waltzes right, that's classical music isn't it?

Heh, here in the Vancouver radio corridor, the dial is jammed with tweeny-pop and classic rock or 24/7 news and traffic. Why I stream WBGO Jazz from New Jersey or KKJZ from Long Beach, California... which have decent bit rates :-\
