Post subject:  Flush wire cutters

Hi, If you are like me and most other diy builders you use the flush cutters for trimming wires. I wear out the tips in about a year and have pitched many in the bin. It occurred to me this morning that if only the tip is bad, why not grind it off and reshape it? I did that to two pair that were about to go to the bin. It worked. Now I can't be sure if the tip hardness is as good as the original but since I only removed about half a millimeter and reshaped the outsides to make them nicely pointed again it may be fine. Still a no cost solution is a winner. Plus I can do it again and again as needed.

Good listening

Bruce have you tried Lindstrom cutters They are Swedish hardened steel. Come in flush and other types of cutters.
They are not cheep but I have had the same set for 30 yrs and they will still cut 36AWG and up. Just do not use them on steel wire.
Here is a look see from Vancouver supplier but I am sure they can be bought from many other places including electronic suppliers. ... mbqtjv1ac6
