Hi All,

I'm looking for a digital switch for a mic/line pre-amp that will be used to control the parameters shown in the attached schematic:

- 20db pad
- Phase invert
- +48V phantom power
- Mic/Line selection

The CD4066 seems to be a classic device, in that it was used in a lot of older designs for switching purposes, but from what I can see online there seem to be better ICs that have come along since then. I'm wondering if there's a common switch used in modern designs, that has less THD, noise, etc., and is used in mic-level or instrument-level designs. Yes, I know traditional switches and relays dont have the problems that digital switches do, but all-digital is part of the design/challenge! :)

I don't have much knowledge on the subject of THD, so any advice would also be greatly appreciated!

Pat

There's a reason pro and high-end HiFi gear uses relays in the signal line of digital control panels... an Omron G5V-2-H1 DC5 will do nicely :D

But if you must have all-digital, try an ADG1419B or the like. But I hope your SMD skills are up to par as through-hole and modern HiFi is getting to be an oxymoron.

A suggestion with that schematic - get some capacitors in there after S2, lest your phantom power get into mischief down river of the circuit.

Cheers!
