Hi, I'm not sure if i'm posting this new topic in the correct thread so appologies if it's in the incorect place.

I am building a preamplifier but I would like to add XLR inputs and outputs to the design. The preamp will have 9 unbalanced inputs for different scources. I then need to convert unbalanced signals to balanced in order to send the signal to my graphic eq. The return signal from my graphic will also be balanced XLR but I then need to re-convert it back to unbalanced for the rest of the preamp stages.

Will doing this degrade the sound quality by converting to and from balanced signals? Also is there a simple circuit for doing this? The preamp already has sufficent gain to drive my power amp therefore I don't want to convert the signal and end up with more gain.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hi,

I use these with great success, doing exactly as you speak of doing here:

When properly terminated, I've measured 8Hz-120KHz with those, so you won't loose on frequency responce.

Thanks for your reply, I think they will do quite nicely in my project :up:

I have two questions - How do I find out what impedance will be most suitable for interconnecting between my preamp and graphic eq and also how do I wire them up inside my preamp?

For 1:1 work, I use the 15K/15K.
