I have tried several as I used Circad for years but no tubes or even layouts in the libraries. I ended up using Eagle as I have used Linux for about 5 years now. It works with windoze, Mac and Linux but still no libraries with it for tubes. I just do them old school with pads and traces with either software.

I made some PCB's the other day with just household stuff but you do need a laser printer.

Can't seem to find the website but what it boiled down to was printing (with a laser printer) on cheap magazine paper preferably with print only on the page but it also has to have a shine to the paper. Iron the image on the PC board, let cool and put in water. once the paper starts breaking down carefully clean off the pulp. I just rolled it off with bare fingers and you should have a cool looking board with the artwork on it. If you mess up just clean off the toner with laquer thinner or elbow grease and try again till you get a perfect looking board.

Now comes the best part.

The echant is made with 1 part white vinegar, 1 part hydrogen peroxide (like in you medicine cabinet) and a dash of salt to speed up the process. Even though it took a few hours to etch the board the smell wasn't to bad and you didn't get stained like with the ferric chloride. Also no rubber gloves were need but I still handled it with care and did it outside as I am no chemist and no telling what that mixture actually is but it sure works. Don't think I want to try the battery acid approach as I have seen on the net as well.

That was on a Sunday morning as there was nowhere to get supplies but it was still faster than gathering all the goodies (transfer paper. Etchant ETC) and had them done before noon.

If I find the website I will post here.

I will keep using this method from now on.
