I have had some requests for remote control volume controls in my gear. See link below:

http://www.altronics.com.au/index.asp?a ... m&id=K5026

The beauty of the kits is that there is only a pot in the audio path and no electronics. According to an electronics friend of mine the pots are good quality and track extremely well. The flip side of this is Alps make motorised pots and the above control cct. would probably run the Alps motors. Another nice feature of the control cct. is if it does not get another command in a short period of time it switches off the driving cct. So noise (or possible noise) is kept minimum.

The kit is a sinch to assemble but be aware there are two different types of small transistors. The hardest part of this project is programming the remote control to mimmic a Phillips TV remote. This took longer then the PCB assembly!!!

Though the rotation action appears a little jerky I beleive the unit will work well. I am going to build a preamp with motorised pot just to prove the theory.

More to follow.
