A simple IRF610 Class-A MOSFET headphone amplifier project has been added to the site.

Just added to the site is a new Solid State project. Dan has once again put together a great looking Class-A following a Jean Hiraga circuit the "Super Class-A 30W" which was featured in the French audio magazine "L'Audiophile" a while back. Using Toshiba 2SA1943 and 2SC5200 transistors with a higher rail voltage, Dan measured 58W of Class-A power.

We have added a new project to the site. Another chipamp - a small one this time built by Thomas in Germany. The project used the small STMicroelectronics TDA2050V chip which can produce about 25W into 8 ohms with ~24V rails.

Mark has built one of the Boozhound Laboratories JFET Phono Preamplifier Kits and he share his experiences. See the Boozhound Laboratories JFET Phono Preamp Kit project page for a description and review of the kit.

Mark has also built a couple of DIY versions of the Boozhound Labs / Le Pacific JFET Phono Preamps, but with polypropylene caps. Discussion about Mark's JEFT phono preamp builds is welcome in the jFET phono preamp - boozhoundlabs thread.

This project by Bruce is for a relatively simple but high performance RIAA phono preamplifier that can handle both moving magnet (MM) and low output moving coil (LOMC) cartridges. The preamplifier circuit uses a Burr-Brown OPA2134 op-amp and a passive RIAA filter. The power supply makes clever use of a Meanwell DCW03A-12 DC to DC converter to produce a regulated symmetrical power supply. The RIAA preamplifier can be built for about $100US including a modest enclosure. Bruce reports that this is a "surprisingly nice sounding preamplifier".

This is the Boozhound Laboratories JFET Moving-Coil (MC) Pre-Preamp Kit. The MC pre-preamp kit consists of a PCB, standoffs, the circuit parts and building instructions. The builder will need to provide a 12-24VDC power supply, an enclosure and miscellaneous hardware like connectors and switches. The kit uses 2SK170 JFET transistors and comes with fabulous vintage Russian military paper-in-oil (PIO) capacitors. Mark uses 9V batteries for the power supply and is very pleased with the results.
