Today it was Jimmy Buffet. Some of his stuff is great, some interesting and some kind of odd.

EDIT: Thinking of odd......I got a Janis Joplin LP a few days ago. In listening to it on a modern stereo (as opposed to the junk I had back then) I was struck by the thought that even though I survived that era, large parts of it made little sense then and to tell the truth don't make any more sense in retrospect. :|

Good listening

A superb cd called 'Perpetuum mobile', by an extraordinary young acoustic guitar player called Sonke Meinen. I first came across him as the stand-out performer at the Ronda guitar festival in June of this year and have been playing this cd ever since. He has all the technical brilliance one tends to associate with emerging young players of any instrument, but unlike many others, he can play lyrical pieces with great sensitivity and musicality.
As a bonus, the recording is excellent and sounds perfect on my Oddblock amp!

Check him out here

right now really enjoying For Your Pleasure and Siren by Roxy Music. so much detail in in Manzanera’s guitars and Ferry’s quivering voice is interesting. Keyboards and occasional saxophone seem ethereal. guess it is highly produced but quite nice sounding. Effective drumming.

Enjoying a little mid-morning Antonin Dvorak, "Cello Concerto In B Minor, Op. 104", with Yo-Yo Ma on cello accompanied by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kurt Masur. Sounding very "in-person" through my little 6CY7 SET amp.

I read a review of an amplifier recently and one of the pieces of music he tested it with was “I see my mother” by Polica on their Give you the ghost album and made some remarks about how good the bass notes were. Since then have been listening to that song regularly. Most of the rest of the album is great too. They have a couple of newer Albums as well.

Blast from the past TREX,
I noticed an album while in a supermarket, thought OK I'll give it a whirl its been years since I heard any of this stuff.
LMAO I listened to about 3 hours of it, I couldn't help noticing the detail that I never noticed or heard in my early years.
It this one.
Not to many tastes I would think these days.

Family Affair Sly and the family stone
It was pretty good in the early days of disco.

The mar-keys,

Some time ago you could down load a greatest hits from A*******

I find it a great sudden change to listen to, it sort of hits the spot for me.
