I have a new and very exciting headphone (HP) amp from Oatley the K311B. But it hates my blues tooth connection. So I had to go back to old faithful my preamp\HP driver. It is based on s single 2N3055 in emitter follower config. The PS is extreme and dead quiet. BUT it does not drive my Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pros to full volume. To lift the output from the Belkin Blue Tooth receiver I inserted my tube and chip preamp. This has a single stage tube preamp and a Pass B1 buffer\driver (back-end) output section. An SNA member now has one and has reported favorably on it. From the blue tooth connection to the preamp and then the HP driver. Now that works extremely well! Plenty of volume and lots of drive. And most of all; dead, dead quiet. Love it. But it does appear to be a lot of gear for such a simple result.

Here is the Class D and my take on a capless BoZ SE as preamp. I am using ghe diirect connection to the Sure module with no attenuator in cct. The two are on the small metal table in front of the other gear. Just had a long listen to violins and Oboes in a couple of complete classical recordings. Not disappointed at all with the Class D - Mirage.

The TV end has been a little unchanged for a while. Beyma 12" full range (2" concentric titanium tweeter) 98 db efficient and 80W Tube and chip amp; VoXConcentriC and Number 9. To fill in the bass a 125W Class AB SS amp and 12" woofer in a 60 ltr box sits at the back. From 200hz and down the bass is supported and extended.

I currently have five DIY amps I can roll; 6V6 SE UL, EL84 SE UL, 300B SE Triode, EAT 180W T4 Tripath and IRS2092 250W Class D.

I'm rolling between the T4, the IRS and the EL84 at the moment. Thanks to bananas on the speaker leads and nicely fitting RCAs I can roll one in and one out in minutes. Also I can leave them all on so its more of a hot swap. No warm-up time.

Speakers are my 12" high efficiency concentric Beymas, on 12" stereo sub-woofers, tube preamp and Oppo 95 Audiophile. So far the T4 appears to work the best with rest of the gear. But more listening to do.

I'm back with another Tripath T4. You can see two dark coloured amps with gold knobs on a small table between speaker and equipment rack. Well the new T4 is the dark one on top.

More than that a good photo of my main system screen and all.

In less than the last six months I have had some huge gear changes. And very diverse compared to what I had. The big Beyma 15” concentrics are not only gone but sold. Beautifully refurbished Altec 511Bs and a poly cone 12” in a sealed box take their place. The horns have Italian FailtalPro top of the range HF10AK compression drivers. These have poly diaphragms so very smooth.

The other changes are globe Psvane 6SN7SE tubes in a high-end parts preamp - “Elite”. Two other “Elite” style preamps were made for others on request. Now the tubes are gone for power and 150W Class D monoblocks (which were sold but I got back) do the heavy lifting. Very clean, true high fidelity and deliver deep impactful bass.

Sources have been around for a while; Pi services and DIY AK4495SEQ DAC, new Rega P3 and MM Garrott K3 (Shibata profile stylus), Oppo 95SE and tube phono stage, soon to be replaced.

Streaming, file based music, vinyl or CD, I can play the lot. Extremely happy with my current system and have fallen in love with Tripath Class D amps.

I see that you had owned a 8 inch full range, i always find full range to be bull and I am fanatical about full range response must have highs and mid highs and full ranges are weak.
My boys got a zobel with erse foilq and pulsex and crossed over at about 7.3k 1st order, can't hear any vocal distortion or any sound of vocals out of tweeter and the mathcing is perfect and I'm listening to full range vocals while having perfect highs.

I got these 8 inch ones for cheap on element 14
23nzd each and shipping is free if you buy over 64nzd
55-5695 - 8" Full Range Dual Cone Speaker
If you get borred and want a new set up these boys are so cheap and its worth it.
These are really good and upraded my 902.376UK which has lower sensitivity

I do like my 15inch setup more with erse foilq pulse x more but 8 inches is great swap when I get bored.
the 15inch got 200w tweeter mcm one from elemnt 14 and the cheapo 902-512 uk which goes up to 5k and cross at 4.1k perfectly with perfect vocals better than 8 inches and the box is semi accustic laybrinth. (size of washing machine each)
also has zobel using 8x 25w 10r erse resitors and pulse x

Dropped the wine box 6L6 amp back in with horns and the rest of the system. Really enjoyed the sound of tubes after many months on the Class D amps. Bass does not go as low but the sweeter fuller sound of the big 6L6s is very enjoyable. But in the end back on the Ds.

A friend came around to test my speakers who is not a horn or Class D person. He was extremely impressed with both the class D amp and the horns. Felt the whole system was really on song and wasn’t quite expecting the sound to be so good. He did say he felt the horns a little in your face and not sure how long he could last with them like that but was totally impressed with the sound.
