I always feel like I'm in the minority... Being a younger guy (24) and being into stuff like Al Di Meola, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and the like while everybody around me listens to nothing but rap on their "souper kewl" Beats headphones. Peasants... I would have to agree on Tool, though. They are definitely outside the normal rock group without being too proggy like Dream Theater.

I prefer not to compare them this way. Pink Floyd are trippy and have different kind of lyrics (English). Tool is harder and darker although Mr. Waters is pretty dark and nihilistic. They are both awesome. Tool's albums are well produced and recorded. Lets be honest some of Pink Floyd's output is crap. Tool has some excellent videos.

Its a shame,
You made the thread just Tool and Floyd related if you had made the same post but let people reflect on rock you would probably have had some interesting reactions. :D
Like Atom Heart Mother <<if there ever was a strange album its a one off..LOL
So you compare Tool to Floyd?
All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be!<<an interesting point.
There is no dark side of the moon really as a matter of fact its all dark<<why?

However you have to ask not so much about the music but the impact and "When" it was produced.
Any band has inspiration but the ones that do it first have a place like Zappa.
ELP Brain salad surgery<<whats it all about?
Hawkwind the demented man, who is he?
When we lock onto something do we miss the whole point of it?

Do you listen to the music or relate to it?
How many bands are carved in stone on the wall of fame that just won't go away?
I have read quite a few posts in the past where people relate to their early listening years ago and their thoughts now.
They are very interesting to read and how much gets washed away with the sea of time.

What is the sound of one hand clapping?
