BTW, I was a bit disappointed with the newest Diana Krall LP Glad Rag Doll.

Well, don't listen to it *after* her album, "Stepping Out" :D

Current gear (for listening to CDs) is Oppo-95, Menatzchim (C3m) preamp, Silver Dragon 300B and the new VoXDeuX two-ways speakers. Slight addition is all Cat5 speaker cable.

But this post is about a Naxos CD rather than about the gear which has helped me to enjoy it. The CD is Edvard Grieg Piano Concerto in A Minor - Holberg Suite and Lyric Suite. It is with the Seattle Symphony with Gerard Schwart waving the short stick. Recorded in 1989 but reprinted in 2012.

This recording is not touted as an Audiophile grade recording but if they stated it on the cover you would believe them. It is just breath taking. Bella Davidovich tickles the ivories and does it real well. I played the CD through twice in a row to ensure I missed nothing. I wouldn't have tired of it if I played it through for a third time. The CD is full of popular "tunes" you will recognize but the detail behind the tune is what gets you. My new two way speakers thrive on material like this. Naxos: 8.571206.

I've been listening to my 4S preamp, with a 12ax7 Bugle boy installed, integrated into my stereo RCA 6aq5 in triode mode. It's throttled back due to the small output transformer size. I've been listening to FLAC files I made from my CD of Dave Brubeck Quartet "Time Out". :headphones: I've been trying different tubes for the preamp and the drivers...I'm not sure I hear a difference yet. (Of course, most are old tubes from a garage sale!)

I need to make some speakers, since I'm listening on some thrift shop Pioneers from the '70s.

I think one of the best feelings is coming home and my fiancé is listening to and enjoying the amp too! :D

RossD: I found a 12AU7 the best for the 4S preamps. Not as much gain though.
