Why is it so difficult to find a USB 2.0 male to XLR female cable? Maybe it is because what I want to do.... won't work.
I have great HD music on a thumb drive. Right now I plug it into my phone with a short adapter cable (USB female to the small plug that goes into the phone.... the one you usually use to charge it up). From there, a TRS plug to a receiver, then to my expensive speakers. I have an unused UR12 Steinberg interface and would like to use it's DAC instead of the probably less sophisticated one in the phone. How can I plug my thumb drive into the XLR mic input on the UR12?
It also has a Hi-Z input as well. Would that be better to plug into, or am I just putting balanced into unbalanced? If so, I don't think that would help me retain quality in the audio signal.
The UR12 has left and right output phono's so the rest is easy, if the first part works.
Please inform me if I am making this harder than it has to be. I'm just trying to use the equipment I already have.
Oh, wait!!!! The phone's File process allows me to select which thumbnail file to play. How would I select a file without that ability?
Oh well. Any ideas? I'd love to bypass the phone's DAC for a better one.
