I found a woman on Ebay who sells exotic wood samples. I emailed her about custom cuts and was able to score 2x6" pieces at a phenomonal price:

purple heart $2.25
cherry $2.00
rosewood $3.50
Birds eye maple $2.75

The wood grain is fantastic and the cuts are ok...for the price they are fantastic but not 100% accurate though no worse if you DIY'd it in quantity.

The finish needs work as there will be several scratches, but they sand out.

I am sure she can do just about any reasonable length. I will post her info when I get home.

Combine the powder coating with wood sides and you will get a very classy chassi!

Wow! Good deal. I've been looking for a reason to pull the table saw out of mothballs. Also will get me to use my router more. Keep us posted.

Here is her Ebay store, I suggest just writing and asking if she can supply whatever size.
