Hey all,

Put it here, as i'm not sure where else!
A mate of mine has given me a couple of transparent plexi boxesand i'm not really sure they are abs quality. Later on i have in mind a headphone chipamp, and was wondering if these would do as a simple chassis?
I just worried about heat dissapation and grounding problems.
I'll post a photo later to show you what they are like. but are there certain rules to follow when using plastic chassis?

I moved this into the general forum for now. I will add a Chassis, Woodworking and Painting Forum if the need arises.

Yeah, heat can be a problem if the amp is hot. Barry used Plexiglas for his K-502 Vacuum Tube Amplifier Kit and did not report problems. So if the plastic is thick enough and you provide some ventilation holes it may work.

I think plexy glass would do just fine for a headphone chip amp as long as you have good ventellation, as for grounding I think you would just need a ground plane, copper board or aluminum in the bottom of the chassis.

I would like to see these cases, actually I was thinking of using plexy glass on my cd player as a top cover.

That looks like it can be put to good use.
Here is another project (a gainclone) where the chassis is made from plastic:

thats a good idea to use the heat sinks as the two sides.

The headphone amp i'm proably gonna use, only has two small heatsinks on the PS.

I'm gonna start it!!
