Hi guys & gals, I've got a bee in my bonnet about building my own amp, be it a head and cab or combo, but is it ok to just build a box for the speaker enclosure or are there guidelines to acheive the best results. Hopefully it's going to be a MADAMP G2 powering an 8 or 10" speaker in ash, but I've got a feeling it'll be MDF or plywood from the local diy store.
Any help will be paid for with love of your choice.

The tube amp should go into some sort of metal enclosure. The kit comes with a Hammond aluminum chassis (229 x 127 x 51 mm). With MDF you have to watch the weight as the cabinet will become heavy quickly.

There are some ideas and plenty of photos in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=882
Cheers

Thanks Gio. I see he has only used glue for his joints. I was under the impression that some sort of interlocking AND glueing was the way to go.

Of course that is better but beyond my skill level. Should be plenty of tutorials for biscuits, dowels, lock mitre joints, finger joints ... on YouTube.

Cheers

true enough, but if I went that way I'd want to spend loads of cash at a tool store on equipment, and although the wife might JUST allow crumbs in bed, sawdust and shavings are a no no. What type of glue is best to use.

Carpenter glue will be fine. However, some folks like premium stuff like "Liquid Nails". I have not tried it.
