Hi RiGuy,
At last we have a source for matched LDRs!
I think it would be a good idea to offer the option of a complete kit, including all the components needed to get the attenuator up and running (LDRs, board, misc. components, even a power supply).
I don't know if a lot of people share the same opinion, but it sure will make things easier for a lot of us.
What say you?
Regards
Nick

I supply LDRs for building your own version or George's version of the Lightspeed.
I also supply boards for an LDR attenuator I came up with called "A Lighter Note."
You can purchase LDRs or an entire kit at www.buildanamp.com

Ha I registered here on page 3 to find out you sell these on your own site now. I've been looking for a way to control the level of the 7.1 from my PC and I think I've found it. Man I never thought of using optocouplers for something like this, the only ones I ever use are LED/Phototranstor

These would be absolutely perfect not just for the apparently better sound but so I can control the volume of 8 channels remotely and most importantly digitally with out a need for ADC/DAC.
This plus reading about the LM3886 Gainclone witch also surprises me because with such a stupid simple circuit it's spose to sound good too and it's cheap.

...So just out of curiosity how much would you charge for 8 well I guess 16 matched optocouplers?

This is a awesome concept I'm just thinking of the cool stuff I could do with these in analog robotics and crossovers.

They are 35 for 2 pair (4 LDRs)
I wouldnt sell that many matched to each other as I have NEVER seen that many match in one batch and my last matching consisted of about 500 LDRs in one matching. So, very very very rare.

Hi Uriah:

I'm just getting around to building my kit and was wondering if anyone has remote controlled your unit. I'm not sure about feasibility but thought I would ask.

Thanks
Bob

Everybody has been asking that. I guess its a demand now. I need to work on that. Will be searching for a solution, but no one has done it to my knowledge. should be easy though.
