So here's the deal. I have this pair of Audio Research AR-4x speakers from the late 1960s. These were in my Father-In-Law's living room for many many years. He was the only owner. I got them from him when he moved a few years ago but they need a typical AR-4x restoration. One of the tweeters has stopped working which virtually always means that the control in the back is corroded and needs repair. Here's what they look like.

They need a light external refurbishment on the wood, new grill cloth, and an electrical refurbishment. These are true AR-4x and not AR-4xa speakers so there shouldn't be problems with the cloth surrounds. One speaker sounds really good, and the bass from the other is really good, just no tweeter sound.
I have nothing into these speakers and would like to see them go to someone who would appreciate them. Someone willing to do the refurbishment and make them live again. I would do the restore on them myself except that I'm moving in a couple of months and have to "thin the herd" before that happens. So here's my offer: I will box them up with lots of bubble wrap and reinforcement and send them to whoever wants to put the work into them,
for the cost of shipping. I think that shipping will run between $30 and $50 for the pair. Or if you're in the Seattle area we can meet and you can get them from me for the promise of treating them right.
Any takers?
