I own a Yamaha P-550 direct drive turntable from my younger days. The speed control does not seem to hold steady. I was wandering if there is any kind of pitch control internal to the table that could be adjusted or cleaned (eg. pot). Has anyone had any experience with Yamaha direct drive turntables or similar who could offer an opinion an idea on where to start. I don't have a service manual and am not sure it is worth spending $40 on ebay (seems overpriced) for a manual that may not even help me fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, I suggest you post the question on vinylengine.com in the turntable section. Lots of knowing folks there.

Good listening
Bruce

1) Control cleaner on the pitch adjustment.
Failing that:
2) Recap it.
Though, to put $35 of caps into a $40 TT is a personal decision ;)
